Known for his many achievements and efforts, Tydon made a name for himself all throughout high school. Most people who know Tydon know that he is good at basketball and football. Not only is he good at two known sports, he is also great when it comes to Rodeo. He is carrying on a legacy from his family, which is steer wrestling and won the Indian National Rodeo Association. Through this article you will get to learn and understand Tydon more as an individual.
The Man, The Myth, The Legend, Tydon Tsosie…
Tydon Tsosie is a current student at Crownpoint High School, he plays in sports, participates in rodeos, and has a great education. He graduates this year from Crownpoint High, the class of 2024. Since the start of his senior year of 2023, he has accumulated many accomplishments. Not only is Tydon known for his accomplishments, but he is also known for coming from a great family. His family is always there to support and push him to be his best. His other siblings who are also well known are his older sister Tori, his older brother Tylon, and his twin sister Tyra. His siblings made names for themselves too, from participating in Rodeos and Sports. His parents are well known in the community as well, and although he was already known, Tydon continues to build his reputation for himself.
Tydon and the Strongest Matches…
When it comes to rodeo, there are many events that you can participate in; for Tydon it was Steer Wrestling. This involves an individual riding on horseback and chasing a steer, the rider will jump off the horse and wrestle the steer to the ground. The goal is to wrestle the steer to the ground as quickly as possible. The rider with the fastest time wins. In Tydon’s case, as said before, he won the Indian National Rodeo Association at 17 years old, a World Champion. Not only did he represent himself, but also his community here in Crownpoint New Mexico. “Who do you look up to the most?” we asked. “The person I look up to is my father. For whatever he is going through he is always there to support me and my siblings” Tydon states. Our parents are mostly our inspiration to do what we love, which applies to Tydon too. His father grew up participating in rodeos, he continues to live that love for rodeo and the legacy through his children, who also happen to have the same love for rodeo.
The Man for Rodeo, but is he The Man for all Sports?
Basketball and Football are the two main sports here in Crownpoint, if not one or the other, there is Track and Cross Country. Tydon played both Basketball and Football, and he excelled at these two sports throughout his high school career. He played varsity basketball for 2 years and varsity football for 4 years. As good as he was, I wondered if he were to get a scholarship, “Do you think you could have gotten a scholarship to go play at the next level?” I asked. “Yes, I could’ve gotten a scholarship to play football at the next level.” He said, it would have been great to be able to see him play again on the field. Tydon always made the crowd roar when he made a touchdown, a layup, or a three. Whenever you would watch him play, no doubt you would see a genuine smile playing the sports he loved.
The New Journey beyond High School…
When asked “What are your future plans besides rodeo?” Tydon responded, “My future plans are to go to college for four years and then be able to get a job with my degree.” With regard to is education, although he is a student at Crownpoint High, he also is in the Academy with the University of New Mexico. The University of New Mexico is a great school; there are lots of programs and events to participate in. He has great grades, and he is knowledgeable when it comes to certain subjects, so no doubt he will get his degree in no time. Later in the future we will all get to watch him graduate, again–this time, with an associate, bachelor, or a master’s degree in whatever he decides to go for. As of right now, it is unclear what his main and achievable goals are, but he is living his high school graduate life one day at a time.
