Have you seen or been entered in a rodeo? Rodeo has been around a long time. It was created by cowboys trying to challenge each other or different ranches. Rodeo came from the vaqueros in Mexico. Rodeo was invited by multiple people in the 16th century, but the first major rodeo was held by William F. Cody (Buffalo Bill) in Nebraska in 1884.
The rodeo community has been around for quite some time in Crownpoint, New Mexico. When spring comes, the rodeo season has started. People across the United States have heard of or seen a rodeo. Rodeo plays a big part of America’s past, as well as the future. I am writing this article to see if I can get others to join the sport of rodeo. There will be multiple facts in the article for you to read and understand what rodeo is. Some people in Crownpoint take the sport of rodeo seriously. The people of Crownpoint have a lot of fun in rodeo, and this is the sport many young people have joined and wanted to do since they were little kids. In a survey of eight people 100% say they wanted to do rodeo when they were kids.
The sport of rodeo was created by Mexican vaqueros who brought ranching to the United States. After they came to the United States, other people started to pick up the things that the vaqueros showed or taught them, like roping and ranching. Once the Cowboys got good at ranching, they started to challenge each other and other ranches. Now it is a loveable sport that a lot of people enjoy, and they have fun watching the sport. In the survey, people were asked if they feel that rodeo is fun, and 100% of the people said yes. Also, some people cherish the sport because they have a lot of memories of the sport. “Rodeo means a lot to me because it was always around and it is a family tradition.” said Logan. Now the sport is gaining some people to join the sport “he is interested because it looks fun and want to see how it is done.” said Ely Smith, a freshman at Crownpoint high school.
Rodeo is a sport that is mostly popular in the southern states. Rodeo takes a lot of courage to do. Rodeo may not seem that hard but once you are in arena and a bunch of people are looking at you trying to do your event. Rodeo can bring happiness to people that participate in the sport I interviewed a freshman at Crownpoint high school said, “I like to be in rodeo because it gets the adrenaline going and it’s been in his family for a long time.” Logan said, a Crownpoint High School freshman. Rodeo Takes a lot of strength, durability and endurance to finish to rodeo strong, so it is a hard sport to accomplish. Once you have done it for a while and you start to understand the concepts of what to do when you step on to the arena floor, it’s a feeling that you can do anything. In the survey, 100% said that they love the experience that rodeo gave them.
Rodeo is a joyful sport for the participants, and participation in the sport can bring a feeling of accomplishment. There are many awards you can win, if you work hard at it, and it can take you across the United States. Rodeo is important to people because it can help them to take their mind off things that are going on around their environment and it helps them to develop a sense of responsibility with regard to taking care of themselves and their animals. This is a sport that everyone should try, if they have the opportunity.
