For centuries, scientists have been researching space and have discovered many things about it, but there have also been many opinions about it. Many people think some investigations are fake, which will be discussed in this article. I interviewed my friends, Haley and Jazmine and my older brother Cameron, who finds the topic of space to be quite interesting.
Space’s Greatest Mysteries
I feel like space is still one of the biggest mysteries to scientists, which is why we study and research it hoping to find out more about it. Like for example, does space ever end? I wonder this because my friend, Haley, thinks that it doesn’t end and is infinite and just continues because there have been some parts of space that haven’t been studied or even discovered, which shows how big it truly is. It is also interesting to consider how there are huge types of space cosmos that we probably don’t know about, or if they even exist. This includes the volumes of planets out which are ginormous!
A great question my friends have asked is if the moon landing was fake because there have been many claims about it and throughout the years, there have been articles and many opinions about it which is another great mystery in our American history. Jazmine believes that the moon landing was real because in our school, we had an assignment that involves learning about the moon landing. So, there were mixed opinions about the topic, but most students believe that the moon landing was real based off the knowledge gained from our research.
A great question for every human being on the planet is “Would you ever go to space if you had the opportunity?” This question might appear to be a very serious yet exciting, because some people lose their lives in space, which is why it requires a very strict education and extensive knowledge about the procedures of being in space. So, knowing all that word for word must be exhausting and not so fun. Although looking into space is very pretty and majestic, which is probably the only reason why people would want to go to space. The responses I’ve gotten after sharing some information with my friends have shown that Jazmine, Haley, and Cameron wouldn’t go to space.
But most importantly, the biggest question of all was “How did space begin? Or how did it start?” “When did it start?” When I interviewed my peers about this question, I shared some information about it and explained that there’s a whole organization devoted to learning more about it known as NASA (National Aeronautics Space Administration). This program was responsible for the first moon landing and has even flown pilots into space in rockets to get samples to study and gain a better understanding of space. And so, after interviewing and surveying students there were a variety of answers to these questions based off what they know about space and the information I’ve shared with them. But of course, some opinions could change as more research about space continues now and in the future.
In space, there are planets, and these planets are made up of different types of matter and gases, and many wonder what it’s like on those planets because some haven’t even been studied due to the risks associated with space travel. My friend Jazmine identified a certain planet called Saturn which is known for the rings that surround it which many find beautiful and majestic. She mentioned that NASA hasn’t quite landed there because of the below-freezing temperatures which is true, and to my knowledge, the only thing that landed there was an unmanned spacecraft, so it was a rover type of mission.
A great mystery that many people have also been influenced by from the internet is black holes. What are they? Would a human being survive contact with a black hole? Have aliens been sucked up and trapped by black holes? As for the existence of aliens, there is no real evidence, but as black holes, their existence has been proven. A gigantic black hole in space contains a strong force of gravity. Light or magnetic waves cannot escape black holes, which shows how strong they are and the kind of impact they may have on the objects that get close to them. The question “Would a human survive a black hole? is still unknown because we wouldn’t want to risk such a dangerous mission that could cost lives, valuable equipment and large sums of money.
With the help of my friends’ opinions, I think that space is a very interesting topic that many are very curious about, and scientists will continue to study and research it. Over the years, hopefully we will have more information about space, and will be able to understand it better because it is a vast and expansive territory full of strange and interesting phenomena.
